The year is 1946, the place, Scandinavia. Newspapers reported strange unmarked aircrafts flying over Scandinavia. The “Ghost Aircraft” were often seen flying low with bright search lights and no engine noises.

On July 11th, 1946, there was a department of state memo from the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm stating:

“For some weeks there have been numerous reports of strange rocket like missles being seen in Swedish and Finnish skies. During the past few days reports of such objects being seen have greatly increased. One landed on beach near Stockholm without causing any damage and according to press fragments are now being studied by military authorities. Local scientist on first inspection stated it contained organic substance resembling carbide. Defense staff last night issued communique listing various places where missiles had been observed and urging public to report all mysterious sound and light phenomena. Press this afternoon announces that one such missile fell in Stockholm suburb 2:30 this afternoon. Missile observed by member Legation made no sound and seemed to be falling rapidly to earth when observed. No sound of explosion followed however. . . Swedes profess ignorance to origin . . . Eyewitness reports state that missiles came in from a southerly direction proceeding to northwest.”

On August 22nd, 1946, the Daily Telegraph stated:

“The discussion of the flight of rockets over Scandinavia has been dropped in the Norwegian newspapers since Wednesday. On that day the Norwegian General Staff issued a memorandum to the press asking it not to make any mention of the appearance of any rockets over Norwegian territory but to pass on all reports to the Intelligence Department of the High Command.”

If not for a few strange details, I am tempted to say this was the Soviet Union testing their V2 rockets for some reason over Scandinavia.
