The year is 1967, the place, a section of the A338 road between Avon and Sopley, Hampshire, England. A UFO was witnessed by three travelers. A glowing, fifteen feet wide egg shaped UFO, which moved slowly across the road from the right left, then accelerated and disappeared.

On November 6^th, 1967, at about 01:30 hours, the witness, Karl Farlow was driving is truck on the A338 Roadway. The witness stated:

“Before the object disappeared a Jaguar car came from the opposite direction, and its lights and engine stalled. Our vehicles were stationary 25 to 30 yards from each other. The object was in between us. It glowed in the most beautiful green color I have ever seen. It was like nothing on earth. - I sat in the cab petrified. I don't want ever to experience anything like that again. This was no hallucination.”

The witness also stated that, the lights of his diesel truck had suddenly and unaccountably failed. He also advised that, the object made a sound like a refrigerator and gave off a smell like a drill boring through wood.

After the object had gone the driver of the Jaguar, a veterinary surgeon, suggested to Farlow that they phone the police from a nearby call box. The police arrived shortly afterward and investigated Everyone was interviewed.

Police constable Roy Nineham advised:

"The most startling part of his report is that his lights failed and came on again when the object he saw disappeared."

A week after the incident Farlow observed that a 200 foot stretch of the road had been completely resurfaced, as if to cover all traces of evidence.

Was this object a military craft of some kind or something more exotic? If military in origin the Avon UFO was clearly capable of exerting some very remarkable physical effects,
