Are Sleep Paralysis and the UFO phenomenon linked?

What are your personal opinions and theories on this topic? I'll give an example from my own past.

I've had sleep paralysis my whole life. Since age 4 to age 20. Then I started smoking weed daily and it stopped mostly. Anyways, I've had some mind blowing experiences that I've only ever thought were hallucinations caused by a sleep disorder and nothing more.

As a child I'd have the same recurring SP episodes. An old witch lady trying to strangle me, a green crescent moon shaped face man with a top hat and a grin. Always those two. Sometimes demon looking dudes, but once in a while I'd see mantis entities and greys. Way before I thought about aliens.

I grew up and learned it was a sleep disorder. Then one night st work I had the most intense SP of my life .

I napped in my car on break. Sleep paralysis hits. I see a strange ancient vase/saucer shaped craft made of stone land in front of me. 3 strange short entities approach my car. They're on a mission. One notices I'm awake and see him as we lock eyes. Beedy little eyes. He looks panicked and they fuck off instantly, fly away. I wake up. Assume nothing more than regular SP.

Years later I'm awake, jogging with my girlfriend at 11:30pm in the summer. Classic tr-3b looking black triangle parks 100 feetover our heads. For a minute. Blasts off silently instantly.

Never believed in aliens or UFOs before that night. Then it made me question all of my SP experiences, especially the very real feeling alien ones.

I still think SP is just a sleep disorder and the aliens seen in those states are hallucinations. But ALOT of famous abduction stories start with “I was paralyzed in my bed”. Most of them even. Thoughts?

Comments:

Theres no doubt that some fraction of abductees actually have sleep paralysis. Nowadays, sleep paralysis is widely-known, but I cant imagine how people people from earlier eras interpreted the experience.
