Could Orcas end up being the first officially acknowledged non-human society?

Could Orcas end up being the first officially acknowledged non-human society?

I know this doesn't really apply to UFOs or UAP but, I really didn't know where to put this or where I could maybe talk about anywhere else.

Since I see a lot of talk about "non-human intelligence", I thought, "why not?" lol. .

Anyway I've been following the stories of the change in orca behavior suddenly becoming hostile towards human ships and it has been fascinating to me.

Mostly because of the process of how it's all happening.

We know that orcas are highly intelligent, among the smartest on Earth.

We know they have their own complex languages and communicate with each other.

The recent attacks that are rapidly rising in frequency are a big deal because it initially started with isolated attacks within one pod, but now orcas in unrelated pods (families) are also doing it.

Which means the orcas are not only "spreading the word" around but also all agreeing to take part in the attacks.

Orcas have pretty much never attacked people so the sudden attacks against boats are unprecedented.

It's escalation, and for whatever reason, they are deciding that now is the time to escalate.

It's possible that they're probably upset about what humans are doing to the ocean but we know for sure that they're definitely targeting human ships specifically and are learning how to sink them (or maybe already even knew!).

My wonders are.

With their intelligence, will they continue to escalate even further and become even more destructive?.

And if they do, what would WE do about that?.

Because it would obviously become too dangerous for humans to go in the water on certain vulnerable ships if orcas have waged war against humans and will actively seek to destroy boats.

Will we do the typical mankind thing and decide to kill them all off in retaliation?.

Or will we try something more humane like finding out how to make them happy?.

Those questions are what brought me here and thinking of non-human intelligence. but in an earth way!.

If we as humanity ever have to consider something like what exactly it is the orcas want to get them to stop, meaning they could somehow be communicated with or even reasoned with, wouldn't that mean they'd basically have to be considered an intelligent society?.

A form of non-human intelligence.

An orca society where we in the human society have to work with them or acquiesce to them to keep both people and orcas safe.

I'm obviously going way out there with all this lol but their behavior is so odd and they are super smart.

They have a reason for whatever they have collectively decided to start doing.

I'm super curious to know what it is and why more and more are taking part. I'm even more curious as to what will make them collectively decide to stop.

Reading your post made me think of the book Other Minds: The Octopus, the Sea, and the Deep Origins of Consciousness by Peter Godfrey-Smith. Sounds like you would enjoy it.
