Encounters With Ghosts in Our Haunted 1896 Home
Posted On: November 5, 2023

I 42(f) lived in a house built in 1896 from the time was 8 until I was 20.

My parents bought the house from family and it needed some work.

It wasn't until I was 16 that I had my first experience.

I had my own room although it was a repurposed closet.

It was wide enough for a twin size bed against the wall and a dresser on the other wall with a desks across from it.

One night I was sleeping on my back but something caused me to wake up.

I opened my eyes and a figure of an older man was standing beside my bed.

He was wearing overalls and was sort of white glowing translucent.

He didn't do much other than look at me as I screamed.

Then he faded away.

It was surreal.

I know I wasn't dreaming.

I was wide awake and I stayed wide awake for a while after that.

I eventually convinced myself that it was okay and he wasn't coming back.

Then I was able to sleep again.

The next morning I told my family about it and couldn't believe no one heard me scream.

I was too freaked out sleep in my room again the next night so I slept with my younger sister on the bottom bunk of her bunk bed.

It would be a few days before I would return to my room.

When I did go back in there to sleep, I was once again awakened in the middle of the night while sleeping on my side facing the end of the dresser.

This time the apparitions were different.

It was three disembodied faces.

They were all different but presented in a row.

It was like they were dancing around in front of my face.

Yet again I screamed and no one heard me.

They faded quicker than the creepy old man had.

But I still remained awake again for hours before I could allow myself to fall asleep.

Those were the only times I saw the ghosts of the house I spent most of my childhood in but not my only stories.

From age 16 until I moved out at 20 there were several more encounters.

My family members also have at least one story of an encounter with something paranormal in that house.

It's still active today although only my estranged father lives there.

My sister stayed one night and never went back after her experience.

That's how I know that nothing has changed.

I haven't been there in at least 3 years with no plans to return.
