I analyzed 80000 UFO Sightings Part 2
I am thrilled we are having the hearings, but we still need a way to find the truth ourselves.
This is my second go at analyzing the NUFORC database.
My previous research focused on lights and the color orange, but this time (this included lights and fireballs),
I focused on the second most popular sighting, triangles.
The data:.
A lot of people asked. It is the NUFORC database.
I realized I needed to find a stable population since sightings reported increased over time. 1994-2014 seems stable.
The analysis:.
In my previous post, focussing solely on UFO colors, orange was an outlier.
This time, I was looking for something that could signal me to dig deeper.
I looked at colors associated with triangles. Red, white, and black stood out.
It was good, but I was still digging deeper. Then I looked at the top 5 states for sightings, and the breakdown was fascinating: .
California (CA): 830 sightings.
Florida (FL): 354 sightings.
Texas (TX): 334 sightings.
Washington (WA): 333 sightings.
Illinois (IL): 293 sightings.
California combined more triangle sightings than the second and third most sighting states. Now that seemed significant, so I dug deeper.
California:.
I then analyzed the sightings in California. A clear linear trend of sightings increased from 1995 - 2005. Then it peaks and stabilizes.
I also looked at the color mentions of triangles at the same time.
This only reveals a little; there is a break in trend around 2013 when red increased and black and white decreases.
It is important to note here that the craft's color is not a reported field in the dataset, and I had to analyze the comments captured by the reporter to see if they mentioned colors.
Things to consider:.
The linear increase in the reported triangle sightings follows a linear approach and stabilizes.
It held the trend for more than a decade. It could be that awareness grew, but one would have expected the trend to continue.
California had more than double the sightings of Florida and Texas.
This can be causation or correlation. California also has a higher population.
The striped skunk is also the most common species of skunk in California, but this is just a random fact and has nothing to do with this post.
