I Lived in a Weird Ghost House in College

I lived in a cute, small, two story, brick with yellow siding house in college.

The house had three bedrooms, one large master, the second bedroom was a smaller and the third bedroom was very small.

When we went to look at the rental, the boys who were living there were only occupying the master bedroom and the small bedroom.

Thought it was odd, but whatever, also noticed the second bedroom was the only room with different carpet than the other bedrooms and the second story hallway.

We moved in and the boys moved around the corner, thought that was strange the house they moved into wasn't as nice, we had a great house, until it wasn't.

It started with slamming doors, electronics turning on by themselves, our pets would act outright alarmed.

I was not willing to believe what was clearly happening, just nope.

One night I heard something run up the stairs twice in a row (not down, just booming up the stairs like a man in heavy work boots) I just ignored it, it scared the shit out of me, but it was a great location!.

My roommates have their own stories but my roommate in the second bedroom never slept in it, always downstairs on the sofa. We eventually moved out.

A year later my roommate who lived in the second bedroom was working as a waitress at a high end restaurant.

It was around Halloween and group of local realtors were having dinner and telling ghost stories.

She was waiting on them and she engaged their conversation.

She told them she had an experience in a haunted house.

They asked where.

She told them our street, not our address, just the street.

They said with out hesitation “Two story, brick with yellow siding”.

Turns out a college aged boy killed himself in the second bedroom with a shotgun.

Look, I don't claim to understand what was going on there.

I don't believe in invisible people, just hanging watching TV with us.

I can't make any of it make sense. I promise you this, I don't ever want to experience it again.

Comments:

Sudden & traumatic events often attach themselves to the fabric of a room or building.

In many (maybe most cases) there is no sentient ‘haunter' & what you are sensing, seeing & hearing will be a variation on what used to be called ‘The Stone Tape' - a re-enactment of the events that took place there (or a manifestation of the intense emotions in play).

Our brains perceive things like movies in the same way that we perceive actual events around us - which is why we can be very scared by frightening films - so there are plenty of reasons why ‘Stone Tape' hauntings can disturb & terrifying us even though they are just replays with no direct capacity to harm us.

The ‘catch' in this kind of scenario is that interacting with any potential unalived former human being to establish whether you have a sentient ‘ghost with agency' is only going to expose you to the danger of empowering anything that is there via an exchange of energy or the ‘trigger' of giving it attention.
