Whatever happened to mass sightings?

David Grusch has said that UFO secrecy “further inhibits the world populace to be prepared for an unexpected, non-human intelligence contact scenario”.

But, has this already happened? We might interpret the 1994 Ariel school UFO incident as a "contact scenario".

It was a pre-smartphone era, so the cultural impact of these stories aren't the same today as if dozens of kids had independently recorded videos of contact with a non-human intelligence.

Between 1980 and 2000 I count at least seven mass sightings (some summarized here).

Rendelsham Forest 1980 (10+ witnesses).

Hudson Valley 1983 (10+).

the Belgian wave 1989-1990 (100+).

Bonaventure Montreal 1990 (10+).

Michigan 1994 (300+).

Ariel 1994 (62).

Phoenix Lights 1997 (100+).

If any of these incidents happened today, we would have multiple videos from different angles.

There are other examples from pilots and military bases where I'm not sure we would necessarily have videos.

So, conservatively, that's at least one mass sighting every three years.

But when we look at the post-smartphone era (let's say after 2013, when more than 50% of Americans had a smartphone), what happened to these kinds of mass sightings?.

We should have had another few mass sightings since then if this rate continued.

For example, if the O'Hare 2006 sighting happened a few years later, we would certainly have multiple videos.

Instead, what we see is videos of Starlink satellites or SpaceX exhaust plumes.

Then these videos are shared, and the witness often gets an explanation for what happened.

Or, the witness might opt to do their own research and get answers that way, in a way that was not possible in the past.

Is it possible that some of the above mass sightings would have had mundane explanations

if they happened today, and that's why we don't see mass sightings anymore?.

Or am I wrong, and there are some modern mass sightings with many different angles captured?.

Or is there another explanation?.

Note that I am not questioning the existence of UFOs broadly, which have plenty of high-quality, multiple-observer, multiple-sensor observations.

I am asking about mass sightings specifically.
