My College Ghost Encounter

I've thought about sharing my college ghost stories for a while now, so let's do this.

I had three very distinct ghost experiences in college, plus a small bonus one.

I'll share them all.

I will share a haunting of my home in a later post.

Background info: I'm mildly sensitive.

I can feel if there is something paranormal going on, but not with distinct clarity.

I'm not a medium, but I do have a sense for the paranormal.

I've had encounters since I was a child.

The Dorm Room Shadow Figure.

During my freshman year at a major university in Michigan, I had moved dorms halfway through the year due to some roommate issues.

My new dorm room would be shared with a friend from high school-let's call her Kay.

Everything was good, we were a good fit as roommates in my opinion.

We both had an affinity for the paranormal and both had an interest in basic witchcraft as one does.

We both had had experiences throughout our lives and bonded over them, and had fun getting tipsy and performing basic attraction spells in our dorm.

Fast forward to a couple months of living in the dorm together, everything is going great and Kay and I both settle in for the night.

I drift off into a dreamless sleep.

Sometime in the middle of the night I awaken.

It quickly becomes obvious to me that I am experiencing sleep paralysis.

I become irritated, as sleep paralysis is an annoying occurrence.

At that point I had experienced sleep paralysis less than a handful of times, so I was familiar with the routine but still aggravated by it.

I anticipate the surreal feeling of attempting to fall back asleep completely and simultaneously attempting to wake myself up.

But then things take a turn.

My dorm bed was pushed flesh against the cinderblock wall, closest to our hallway, leading to our shared bathroom.

Suddenly, I notice long, black fingers curve around the wall.

I feel my heart rate pick up, a strong pounding in my chest.

I tried to convince myself that I'm just seeing things, this is what sleep paralysis can do to you after all.

Then a completely solid, black head begins to peak around the wall seemingly looking right at me.

A featureless, solidly black figure now has half of its body around the wall facing directly at my “sleeping” figure.

I vividly remember my entire room.

The light of the emergency alarm on our ceiling, the tv against the adjacent wall, Kay fast asleep facing the window by her bed.

Even more vividly I remember the terror of attempting to call her name.

Thinking that if this is a dream and I can manage to scream for her that the shadow man will disappear.

After what felt like an eternity, I finally am able to wake up fully.

I never “fell back asleep”, but actually was just able to start moving again.

I told Kay about the experience the next morning and she told me to look up the various deaths that have occurred in the dorms on campus.

At that point I knew that while my sleep paralysis was very real, so was the shadow man watching me sleep.

The Little Girl (part 1).

Fast forward to my junior year of college.

I am living in my sorority house and had found an amazing job nannying for a wealthy family a city away.

The family was a blended family; the father was a doctor of some sort (I can't remember now what his field was) and the mother was working from home while she was pregnant.

The family was made of all girl children.

The oldest two being 9 year old twins from the dad's previous marriage, a 3 year old and a 6 month old that were my nanny children, and the mother was pregnant at the time with another girl.

Everyone was incredibly sweet and kind.

We got along well.

After a month or so the mother asks if I was open to overnights with the baby so that the parents could get some sleep.

I agreed, and showed up for my first overnight.

The baby was already put down , so the mom encouraged me to set up in the twins' rooms until I was ready to sleep.

I had never been in their rooms at this point because they were never home when I was with the youngest girls.

I explored one room and made my way into the next through the jack n Jill bathroom that they shared.

Upon opening the next room, I notice a sleeping girl in bed.

I quickly back out of the room and close the door, thinking that one of the twins must had wanted to be at dad's unexpectedly.

I can still picture her small body asleep on top of her covers, curled up.

Come the next day I notice that neither of the twins are home.

I covertly ask the mother about them and she confirms that neither girl had been home that night and had been at their mom's house.

Basement Sighting .

Not as exciting as the first encounter at the home, but I was playing in the basement with my nanny girls and was just feeling really uneasy, like we were being watched.

I decided to take the girls back upstairs when the feeling became too overwhelming.

I had set their lunch out and went to get my container from my backpack.

While walking toward the kitchen I looked downstairs and saw a black figure of a little girl run through the basement.

I stopped working for the family probably a few weeks later.

I still wonder if maybe the couple had had a miscarriage before their oldest together was conceived.

Or maybe a child had been attracted to the home or family.

This is not my only experience with the spirit of a child.

I would love to share more if anyone is interested in hearing about it.
