If aliens have been visiting for the last 70+ years, who's the say they haven't known about our planet for eons prior? If that's the case why didn't get colonize the planet at some point in the last few million years or even tens of millions of years before humans came to dominate? seems like a waste of a perfectly good opportunity to expand their reach.

I find it hard to believe they've only just discovered us in the last 70+ years. Or even the last 1000 years. I mean what are the odds that in the last 250 million years where our planet was highly livable, aliens have only discovered planet earth in the last couple centuries?

If detonating atomic bombs finally put us on the map, it doesn't explain how they knew about us so quickly, wouldn't the energy take at least dozens of years to traverse the nearby solar systems, of which some maybe might have intelligent life. Or maybe detonating atomic bombs sends energy and other not yet understood forms of information through other dimensions that travel faster than light.

But again, there have been foofighter sightings and possibly other sightings in the centuries prior before we set off the first nuke. If we take that as possible evidence aliens must have known about us for much longer.

I would imagine the further you go back in time the more the aliens could get away with being undetected as their technology was so unrecognizable that it's incomprehensible to humans. And they could almost hide in plain sight. Maybe sightings were just as common but it got "brushed off" as divine interventions or other religiois type sightings. It was only until the 1900s that humans at least developed the tech to get into the skies so now the human mind can fathom alien technology much better.

Care to know your thoughts.
