Beside the fact that they could be having some kind of "mutual tolerance" or "non military interference" treaty in place with some of our governments, it's very understandable why it's not in their interest to disclose to us, not even with our governments or military elites.

We humans rage, panic and resort to violence easily, we deceive and sometimes enjoy the process.

We do crazy stuff to helpless beings when we feel in power, and contemporary history is full of such examples.

We "evolved" in technology but still have a "tribal" attitude when it comes to "diversity" or sharing sources.

We tend to subjugate the weak and call it their best interest.

Just look at the news around the world. I bet you know what I'm talking about.

They most surely studied our social habits in the last centuries/millennia when it comes to meeting different cultures, and we didn't leave a good impression.

American natives, anyone?.

Just imagine what could we do if we'd get their technology and discover they're from a nice livable planet nearby full of rare minerals.

We don't know if the ones currently being here are scouts, guardians or even settlers from their own world.

But given their development, seemingly thousands years ahead of us, they must have faced some crazy stuff and understendably they're willing to share very little from their technology and avionics with us.

Switching parts, If you were on a mission far from home, dealing with some greedy, genocidal, unpredictable but very smart baboons, would you fully disclose the reason of your presence in their territory, or even your home adress?.
